This is another upload of my project plan. some of the tasks took l;onger then anticipated such as the filming and editing. It was useful to have this project plan as it allowed me to consider what needs to happen, hwoever sticking to it became a bit of a problem.

final poster, website, teaser and teaser page

This is the final draft of my poster and website. The layout for my poster has changed slightly since the last draft which I came up with. I tried to make this poster more exciting and thrilling by the layout and hopefully I think I have achieved this.
I have created a teaser page which has two scenes from the teaser in a picture form and a synopsis of the teaser. The reason why I decided to create a teaser page was because I wanted to give more information about my teaser rather than placing it on the same page as the opening page of the website. I prefer it this way because the entire page is dedicated to the film, instead of having the teaser just embedded in the middle of the page as I had done previously.

WEBSITE

Based on the feedback in which I received, I decided that I need to create another poster and website to ensure that it looks more sophisticated and will receive better marks overall. Even though I am creating another version, I am going to use the drafts which I have already come up with and try and create a better layout overall.

Website Ideas 2

Check out this SlideShare Presentation: Based on my mock ups these are various designs which I have come up with, while I was on Adobe Photoshop. Many of the websites look the same as I have done minor changes to them with exception to the one that has red in it.

These are the ideas in which I have based on my movie poster. From the posters which I have analysed I have looked at what they have done and seen if I wanted to use any of the ideas which they had.

Third poster draft

This is the final draft of my poster. I think that my poster is simple as the main colours used are black and quite however I feel that that this reflects the main idea which the film is about. Black and white is opposite colours and has connotations with evil (black) and good (white). The main antagonist for the movie has a dual nature; this means this side of them is powerful and evil, whereas the other side to them is innocent and pure. This is the main reason why I have chosen to use these colours.
I have used some of the codes and conventions for a film poster as it has the name of the film “ETCH” which is written in a grunge font called “Due Date”. The reason why I choose a grunge font is because it is disconcerting and distorted around the edges showing that the teaser and film will be unsettling. The main reason for going for this impression is to confirm the genre for the film the teaser is created for., I created a billing box written in grey and a small font so that it doesn’t stand out and take attention away from the main image. The font used for the billing box is called “Steel Tongs” and this is common for all billing boxes on movie posters.
I have included a tag line: “your fate lies in the pill”, I think this is an appropriate tag line because it raises some suspicions in terms of what pill, particularly as I have excluded a image of the pill from my poster. This tagline also fits in with the horror/thriller genre; it could help entice the audience because it raises unanswered questions, mostly of what happens in the film and whether the outcome of the fate is good or bad. The main image is of the villain; I have used a mid shot, and had the villain character get into a running stance to make it appear they are running at someone. This effect is supported by the fact this image is placed in the foreground and not the background. The codes and conventions which I have included can be seen in some of the movie posters which I analyzed.

Second draft

This is my second attempt at creating a movie poster. I like the composition of this draft because it has different layers to it which represents the different layers to a person. This version used more of the codes and convention in comparison to my first attempt as it had a billing box, tag line and names of some of the actors at the top. Although this poster again did not look very professional, I think that there has been some improvement between my first and second attempt.

draft of movie poster

I think that this attempt for creating a movie poster was very plain and did not give much indication into what type of film it was created for. It also did not look professional, for this reason I decided to create another version which would be more appropriate and look more professional
