Research into thriller genre

Suspense, there is always a protagonist and an antagonist whose forces collide. The action in this genre tends to be at a fast pace and many scenes of actions occur. By doing this a thriller is keeping the attention of the audience. This type of genre will appeal to a target audience that are interested in escaping into another world .

A psychological thriller is similar to a thriller in terms of what it does and the types of scene that occur, however a character or some fo the characters suffer from psychological difference that influence their judgement and who they are. Examples of this include:
Dualism- this is when a character has a split personality, their minds are not of one person and as a result characters that have a dual nature find it difficult to tell reality from fiction.
Ontology- this is when a person tries to determine what actually exists, similarly to dualism characters is unable to tell what is physical and what is a fabrication of their minds.

The themes which are usually involved in a psychological thriller are:
• Mind
• Perception
• Identity
• Death
• Existence

For my teaser I think that identity, mind and death are the themes that will occur in the movie, focusing on a character that has a dual nature. The dual nature means they are unaware of the deaths which are occurring and believe the “thing” that is haunting the others and killing them are also after this character. As this relates to a character not being able to tell what is physical and an illusion.
